Father Vasile Parau
Background
Father Vasile Parau was born on February 11, 1948 in Bocsa , Salaj County, Romania. He received theological education at Theological Institute Sibiu (1972-1976) and continued education at University of Bucharest (1982) and University of Cluj (1993). On November 7, 1975 he was ordained Priest by Bishop Vasile (Coman) at the Bishop’s Chapel in Oradea. Between 1976-1986 he served as a Priest in Pericei and between 1986-1994 at Simleul Silvaniei. Father Parau also served as Deanery Secretary of Simleul-Silvaniei (1976-1988). He received the honoray distinctions of Iconom (1984) and Iconom Stavrofor (1990).He emigrated to USA in 1994. After arrival in USA, Fr. Parau was assigned priest at St. John the Baptist Church in Glendale, Arizona (1994-1996) and St. Parascheva Mission, Phoenix, Arizona (1996-2012). Between February-December 2012 Fr. Parau served at Palm Springs, California. Starting with January 2013 Father Parau is priest at Holy Cross Parish in San Diego, California. Father Vasile Parau married in 1970 Maria Pausean who passed to the eternal on 2021. Together they have two sons: Ovidiu Marius and Vasile Ioan.
